Change User Password in CMD

Before you can change a password of an user account from CMD, you must know the name of the user.
Lets start by displaying the number of user accounts in the said system..
The first step:
  1. Click on start button
  2. Click on Run, type CMD in the box, and press Ok
  3. The command interpreter window will appear
  4. Type net user and press enter
Now the number of user accounts on your system are displayed; ignore the Names, Administrator and Guest and look for a more familiar name, like James.

Tip: The name in the list that corresponds to the name ending the dir path, in the cmd window, is the desired name.

e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\user>
in my case the user name is "user"

Now to change the password:
type "net user username new password" without quot and press Enter.

e.g. net user user coMpaNy
Output "The command completed successfully."

To disable password
type "net user username *" without quot and press Enter two times
Output "The command completed successfully"
